Dear Stephen King,

I am writing as part of our school's Seeking Stephen King project.  If I ever had the opportunity to meet you, I would be full of questions to ask.  The one that sticks out the most is where you get your inspiration from.  I've heard many second-hand accounts, but it would be great if I could hear from the author himself.  From my understanding, you have had a tough past, but you have written several novels and short stories, so there must be some other source you are getting your ideas from.  It appears as if you have a wonderful imagination and lots of messages to get across.  I have always wondered what goes through your head when you are in the middle of an intense story.  I would like you to know I appreciate your talent for writing, and I recognize it takes a lot of effort to be constantly coming up with new ideas.  I encourage you to continue writing, and maybe someday I will get the chance to ask you these questions in person.

Sincerely,
Courtney

Dear Stephen King,

I would highly enjoy if you came to Sussex Regional High School.  If you came you wouldn't even have to pay for your own lighting crew.  I would be willing to do the lights right here in the school if you decided to come.  My friends and I would not mind doing the lights for you plus we just got new lights and everything last year.  We redid the whole theatre and new equipment.

I hope to see you soon,

Alex Carpenter

Dear Mr. King,

Now is the time!  We students have been badgering you for almost a year now to come visit our humble school in Sussex, New Brunswick.  You must have seen hundreds of letters by now.  If you are flattered, than come to our school and you will enjoy ten times the flattery.  On the other hand, if you are incredibly annoyed, than I say just come pay a small visit anyways and the letters will likely stop (emphasis on the likely).

Either way, we would most definitedly appreciate it if you stopped by, even for a short while.  Come enjoy the beautiful scenery and the fresh air, and show us that you care about young students interested in your work.  See you soon!

Sincerely,
Impatient SRHS Student.

Dear Mr. S. King,

It has come to my attention that a lot of your books take place in a small town: well I have just the place for you.  My suggestion would be my very own town Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada.  I suggest this town because of the potential for a horror book or even a movie in which Sussex passes, to begin Susses is at a very critical stage in its growth.  the stage is Sussex potentially becoming a city; I myself disagree with the idea, and there lays the opportunity for a novel.  The plot could consist of the twon's people rebelling against the business, to look at it from a different angle "the corporate" or the business owners that are planning to expand the town could have a secret task force that coule "take care" of the rebels/

There is tonnes of novels to be squeezed from this town and what better opportunity to do the research the town then coming to visit us at Sussex Regional High School.

In conclusion Sussex is ripe with opportunity for a novel, I hope that you scrounge an idea from our town and that we get to meet you in person soemtimes through out the school semester.

Mr. King,

This past week in school, I have learned a lot about you and what you have done in the world of literature.  I have never read a single book of yours; however I am very interested in reading them from the positive reviews from many people.  Anyways, I would like to ask you a few questions that involve you as a writer now, in the past and your thoughts about this community.  Now, without further ado, here are my questions to you Mr. King.

First of all, are you thinking of or working on some sort of future project or novel in literature?  I ask this because I understand that you have written around 50 novels and I would like to know if I could look forward to anything new with you in the future.

Second, with being the best-selling horror author in history and one of the greatest authors of all-time, do you have any regrets publishing books of your caliber of creepiness? The reason I ask this is because with the people that happens to be insane or may have tried to reenact the unimaginable events you put in your stories.

My last questions i would like to ask is are you interested in visiting the town of Sussex, and more specifically Sussex Regional High School.  You see, the reason I ask this is because our school has been wanting you to come down for quite some time.  In my opinion, I believe you would be a wonderful influence and inspiration to us and perhaps we could return the favour to you.

Mr. King, I hope you will get the chance to read my questions, and possibly answer them.  I hope that our school will influence you to come to Sussex for a visit.  I look forward to encountering you in the future.

Sincerely,
Brady Jones

Dear Stephen King,

You haven't written a book in a while and visiting Sussex might give you the next great book or movie.  There are so many things in this tiny town that you could write about.  You could write about the Abby, an old castle house in the woods with an old man that frightens children that trespass on his land.  You could write about the animals at Animal-Land that has been closed for years but is rumored that the animals come to life at night.  Sussex is famous for the bluff, a cliff that is a popular spot for family hiking that drops off quickly.  There are a lot of graveyards around Sussex that at night are scary as hell; there is one in particular, on Newline Road that the road goes right through the graveyard.  There are hundreds of tomb stones on each side of the road all lit up with lights and at night you would swear that people are walking in front of the lights.  We also have a potash mine here that travels underground for miles.  I really think that you could come up with some really good stories when you visit our tiny town.  I really hope you can come to Sussex, and visit our school.  A lot of people wish you would come.

Devin.

Dear Stephen King,

I am writing you this letter to ask you a question about your books and what drives you to write these crazy novels?  I am a huge fan of yours.  I didn't know about your books till I entered high school this year.  We started talking about it in my English class and ever since then I became very interested in your books.  As a reader I do enjoy reading scary novels because they are intense and suspenseful.  I wanted to ask you a couple questions.  Where do your ideas come from? I think it is amazing how you can come up with these extraordinary ideas from the real life to a crazy insane story.  Hopefully someday soon you will be able to answer my questions at our school.  I believe you are a great inspiration to others became of how well you write and dedication as an author.  I strongly encourage you to come to Sussex Regional High School because we would love for you to come and answer our questions about how to become a better writer.

Yours truly,
Vanessa

Dear Stephen King,

My question to you , is what is it like to be on of the most greatest writers of all time?  You have written so many great books and you have so many fans.  You must have a pretty busy life.  It is a wonder how you get a time to write all your books and have to for other things.

Another question I have for you is what is your favourite book in the whole world?  It is probably on of your own since you must not get that much time to read.

I also suggest you write a very short but amazing story, so when new English textbooks are made, we can put one of your stories in it!

Thanks for taking the time for reading this!  My whole family is a fan of yours and I would love to meet you one day.

Celeste

PS: RSVP or come to our school so we can talk in person.

Dear Stephen King,

As a student of Sussex Regional High School, I was asked to write you a letter asking you any questions that I may have.  Personally, if I had to ask you a questions it would have to be what scares you most and why.  Considering you write so many horror novels, I was always curious to what scared you.  I was also wondering if any of your stories originate from your very own fears or perhaps nightmares.  If so, please explain.  If not, how do you come up with these stories? Also, are you by any way disturbed by your own stories?  If so, which ones?  If not please explain why.  I would love to know, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yours truly,

Julia

Stephen King,

Sometimes I dream about a marching band chasing me forever and ever.  it just doesn't stop!  Sometimes I will be just going on with normal life and hear the booming of drums randomly and I will remember that dream.  I hope you will have a connection to my dream and maybe you can write about or if you come to Sussex you may just get a story from here!

Thanks,
Devan

Dear Stephen King,

I have been wondering for a long time now where you got the inspiration to write your first book, "Carrie".  It was an amazingly unique theme at the time it was written.  When you found out it was to be published, what was running through your head?  Were you excited, nervous, or even angry it took that long to be published?  I have another question.  When you became famous, how did you deal with it and not let it go  to your head? Or, has it gone to your head? I'm asking these questions because my dream is to become a professional soccer player, and if I do become famous playing soccer I need some tips to not let it go to my head.  I would also like to know what it felt like to be so well regarded by the literary community?

Any thoughts you can give me on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Stephen King,

Hello! I am a student from Sussex Regional High School and I am writing to you yet again about our school's desire to have you visit us this year!  You are a very talented author and no one else would be welcomed more to our school than an amazing writer like yourself! I understand that when you write, you are to be inspired by something beforehand, and to do that you have got to get those creative juices flowing and absorb things around you in that constructive way!  I really believe that if you come to Sussex, you will be able to connect with this unique town and let you experience creative and inspiring feelings once again! Out town is surrounded by farms and a lot of open fields and if you think about it some of these places could inspire a possible novel setting!  Sussex is really old, so many of the outlying areas have old run-down barns and houses and believe me when I tell you that they could be the scariest place on earth during the latest hours of night! Really gets the adrenaline pumping!  This feeling is what readers experience when they read on of your novels, and anyone who had a frightening moment in a creepy place can confirm that it is a thrill worth having.  I think a creative mind like yours could come to Sussex and connect both emotionally and intellectually to the people and the culture.  You just might find yourself in the middle of an incredible story, even if it isn't written on paper!

Hi Stephen King,

I would murder a frog in order for you to come to Sussex Regional High School.
I would fund-raise door to door in a thunder storm in order for you to come.
I would tent outside the school.
I would tent outside your house.
I would make you Pasta.
I would make you as much pasta as you want (and I am a pretty good pasta chef)
I could make you sandwiches
If that is what you would prefer.

I would give you 485$ Canadian (and that is all the money I have)
I would walk 1/4th of the way across Canada.
I would hitchhike to your house.
I would draw you as many pictures as you want.
I would buy you a cat.
I would give you MY cat (and it is the only one I have left)
I would give you BOTH my budgies (I never really wanted them anyway)

I would write a DICTIONARY.
I would write a Thesaurus
and then re-write them in French!

I would buy you a suit.
I would like so much.
So, please come to us.
It is all I ask.

Dear Stephen King,

I'm going to be honest with you, I had never heard of you before my school started trying to get you to come visit us.  Nevertheless, I've always wanted to ask a famous author who they got to there they are.  This type of thing doesn't just happen overnight?  I always assumed that being a writer is something you know you want to do since you were young, but is that true?  Or is it more of a hobby that turns into a job?

In addition to my other questions, what would you suggest is a good way to start if you want to be an author?  I haven't decided what I want to do when I'm older and I was wondering if writing is the right path for me. I do enjoy writing a lot and personally I think I might have some potential but I'm not sure how to start or how hard of a life it is.

I would love if you could come and visit our school and answer my questions.  it would mean so much for someone to come and help me decided on my future. Also I know there is some very big fans here that would love to meet you.  If you could set aside some of your time for our school I know it would be be much appreciated.

Yours sincerely,
Nicole

Dear Stephen King,

I have always wondered what your parents think of your work? Were they supportive and happy that you decided to become an author or were they hoping that you would be something else?  Either way I still think you are a great author.  I enjoyed the movie Misery very much.  I never read the book but after seeing the movie I think the book would be just as interesting and also just as spooky.  I think it would be great to have you come to our school and tell us about yourself and what inspired you to write horror and mystery. You are a very scary man, but in a good way!  It would be an amazing experience to have you at our school.  I have visited your town already now it is time for you to visit ours.

Thank you and I hope to see you soon

Taylor

Dear Mr. Stephen King,

If I had the chance to ask you any question at all, I would ask you why you chose to write horror?  Ever since the first time I read a book written by you, I couldn't stop.  The suspense, the thrill I get with every book I read by you is like no other.  So, what is your story?  What is your reason for these creepy, crazy books I love so much?  Maybe not knowing is why these books speak to me this way.

One huge fan,
Liam

Dear Mr. King,

As you are probably aware of, our school is determined on bringing you to our small community of Sussex, New Brunswick.  At a first glance, you might not think much more of this town than cows and farms (hence "Cow town"); however, perhaps there is more to discover.  Aside from farming, Sussex is famous for its many covered bridges.  Imagine a nightmare where you are driving along an old country back road, when up ahead, you see the entrance to one of these barn-like bridges.  The inside is dark so dark, that you cannot see the other side.  What you imagine to be three to five second of darkness under a roof suddenly becomes a whole new reality.  Then, all the horrors of the old wooden structure are released, interpreted as your deepest, darkest fears. it is a common joke for everyone riding in the car to scream at the top of their lunges while passing through those few moments of darkness, but until now, one never truly realized the origin of this "joke".  After those eternal few moments, you emerge out of the other side, but maybe it is not really you anymore, for you are forever changed and then you hear the screams of the people in the car behind you.  There are many covered bridges in Sussex, but maybe only one of them could create such a story.  It is yours to find if you decided to venture into our little town.

I do hope to meet you at some point in time.

Sincerely,
Andrew

Dear Mr. King,

My name is John and I'm a student at Sussex Regional High School.  As you may know from our bombardment of letters about Sussex, we're a town very driven by dairy farms.  I believe that killer cows would make a great horror story.  First of all, as far as I know, there is no famous horror novel written about cows and originality sells.  Also, cows have the strength and potential to break free each day, yet they settle for being kept in the fence all day.  It wouldn't take much for a couple of 1500 pound heifers to get the best of a farmer and escape.  This story would be unique because since the cows are such an important factor in our economy and our lives, we wouldn't be able to simply kill them all, because that would leave much of the town out of a job.  So if you are blanking on ideas for your next novel or short story, keep Sussex in mind.

Sincerely,
John

Dear Mr. Stephen King,

I am a huge fan of yours, you are an amazing writer and you inspire me.  This is the reason why I'm writting this letter.  My school, Sussex Regional High School wants you to come join our school to talk about your experiences of your years of writing.  Let me tell you a little bit of my small town Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada.  Susses is about four hours from where you are located, we have amazing murals around town that tells you about our rich history as well as our old train stations that we now use for an ice cream shop and a museum.  Recently we lost three of our historic buildings due to a fire; many people were upset about this incident.  Please Mr. King come to the small town of Sussex you might be inspired by the people and the things you will see.

Sincerely,
Courtney

A summer farewell

Dear Stephen King,

As our school year comes to a close we extend to you, a so long for now.  Our students are off for their summer vacation, some will be working on family farms, others will be working around town but they all will enjoy those sweet warm summer days where September appears to be far off.

Our school hopes that you enjoyed all the letters, artwork and videos that we have sent you over the school year.  We all had great fun in seeking you to visit our school.  At last, we never heard from you.  We have not given up hope, when our school year starts in September we will be back at it.  We are working under the idea that “It is kind of fun to do the impossible.”

We hope that you have a great summer and enjoy lots of baseball.

Sincerely,

Ms. SJ Smith

Dear Stephen King,

Some students decided to rewrite popular songs to persuade you to visit us.  This group decided to shoot a video to.  We hope you enjoy this song.  We had a lot of fun creating it and the video! Below are the lyrics to the song.

Stephen King Rap!

By: Bailey, Allison, Maddy, and Mary-Kate

This one is for the author in Bangor,
He's got best sellers sellin' out all the stores
When he come up in our school we be racin' up
We got to see him first so we savin' up!
They shrill, they thrill, they sometimes kill
These novels got suspense, they be givin' you a chill!
We read, we saw, we now in awe
These books are so great; they ain't never got a flaw!

He's an author from the states, states. That SRHS awaits, waits.
Open up the gates, gates. This be feelin' like fate, fate.
You're the kind of dude we are lookin' for.
And yes, errybody needs a mentor!
I said s'cuse me you're a hell of a guy
I mean my, my, my, my you write the books that I by.
I mean, don't be shy, the queen stopped by
All we need now is the king by her side, OH!

Yes we did, yes we did, somebody please tell him who SRHS is
We are the Sonics; we read dem books up, come on up, talk this town up.

CHORUS:
Steve you got our school goin' insane,
Reading all the time, you be fillin' our brains
Steve you got those books...
Steve you write dem books!

Enjoy,

Dear Stephen King,

I wanted to share this YouTube video with you.  Some of our students made it as part of an English project.  It is a parody on a popular song.  The students reworked the song to make it about being from Sussex. I hope that it gives you a good chuckle.  I also hope that it helps to persuade you to visit us at SRHS in the fall.   From Sussex and I Know It!

Cheers,

Dear Stephen King,

We have switched gears from letter writing to movie creating.  Our students have been working hard reading some short stories and turning them into their own films.  This project has taken weeks!

Now that we are starting to see the results of our hard work; we plan on taking some of these films and having our own lunch time screening for the whole school.

Here are a few links to some of the movies.  If you ever read this blog, we hope you enjoy them.

Dear Mr. King,
Small towns and big dreams, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard our school was trying to invite you, Stephen King himself to a place like Sussex.  But my perseverance took over and here you find me, sending a letter to one of the most beloved authors of our generation asking him to place have a visit to Sussex Regional High School.
It would be an honour to have a great creator of art such as yourself in our small town. Although I have not read any of your book, I have been several of your movies, including the Green Mile, which was brilliant beyond imagination. I am also very aware of your talents as an author and have certainly noticed your popularity around out school.
I’ve learned over the years that you have grown up and lived in a small town like Sussex, so I think a trip across the border would be a fun, productive and beneficial trip not just for you, but for the students of Sussex Regional High School who have been asking for your appearance here.  We’ve had book drives and received over 60 of your book in our school library, but that can hardly compare to having you, Stephen King himself in Sussex.
The students of Sussex Regional High and I thank you dearly for taking the time to read our numerous letters and we ask that you please accept our request for you to come visit our great school here in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada
Sincerely,
Keegan

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Dear Stephen King,
I would like to start off by saying what a radical person you are!  Your ideas blow my mind and the fact that you grew up in a small town similar to mine, yet became such a renowned writer is extreme.  Our school has been doing so much to try to get you to come.  We have had a book drive to help fill our library with your words of wisdom.  We have been raising awareness of your newest book 11/22/63.  We have banners in the lobby with you on them, Mr. King, YOU!  That is right we have your face hanging in all its glory front and center at Sussex Regional High School.
Stephen, may I call you that?  Sussex is a small town with a BIG history.  We are the mural capital of Atlantic Canada, the Dairy Center of the Maritimes and we are also the Covered Bridge Capital of Atlantic Canada.  We used to be a gigantic train town; we have a large non-operating train station that now serves as a visitor information and an epic ice cream parlour.  All these factors along with a large military history might just be able to give you all the information your mad (in a good way) brain needs to crank another amazing story.
Just taking a walk through Sussex you can smell our Dairy air and check out things like our old school pharmacy and historic buildings like the Jones Place B + B.  Now that place has some stories to it!  But, let me tell you, the owners tell them much better than I ever could.  So you are just going to have to get down here and have a chat with Phil and Deb yourself.
So really, if you don’t come to Sussex you are completely missing out on a extravaganza of epic proportions that would be very exciting for you.  The people of Sussex, LOVE you and we want you.  We would be ecstatic to rack your brain and hear everything you have to say.
Yours Truly,
Madeline

Dear Mr. King,
We really want you to come visit our School.  It is in a small town called Sussex and from what I hear it is a lot like your hometown in Maine.  There are a lot of fans here at our school but I’m not really into horror I’m more of a comedy type of guy.  So don’t take it personally.
Our school has done a book drive with your books now we have about 60 of your in our library.  We also showed some of your movies in our theatres. We also showed some of your movies in our theatres. We also watched a trailer to Show shank redemption in our classroom.  And then of course we are all writing letters to you.
I have watched one movie of yours which was the Green Mile which I didn’t know was yours until I started researching.  Now I want to watch 1408.  I don’t think I would read the books of yours because well, I don’t like reading.
So I hope to see you next year.  I also think you would inspire some of our students.  If you came you would see a lot of happy people and we went through a lot of work to get you here!
Go Red Sox!

Dear Stephen King,
I am writing to you in hopes of persuading you to visit our school, Sussex Regional High School.  I’m sure you have already read many letters asking for the same privilege and are ready to change your mailing address, I would be.
Out of honesty: I have only seen one of your movies and never cracked open one of your books, (neither books nor film greatly interest me) but I read your short story “The Women in the Waiting Room”.  I envy your imagination and enjoy your writing style.  As well, I enjoyed your references to Salvador Dali’s painting as I enjoy his work.
Lastly, I would like to say that the Green Mile is one of my favourite movies I have ever seen. It is an intriguing story of the blessings and curses and the cruelty of human kind.  As long as I live that movie will stick in my mind.
Anyway, I guess I should sign off with the point of this letter, the school of SRHS would like to invite you to our school.  I understand you are busy but the school would greatly appreciate your appearance.
Thank you
Joel

Dear Mr. King,
Our school is always trying to get students to read and write better.  Other authors like Beth Powning, Sally Armstrong and Herb Curtis have come to our school to talk to students about the importance of reading and writing.  We would love to have you join this important group of authors.
While you are here you can travel around and see places like, the ice caves, the bluff and our nice covered bridges and maybe include our province in one of your stories.
Mr King, we would love to have you come, you are a popular author of our generation and we would like to meet you.

Sincerely,
Josh

Dear Stephen King,
I’m sure you’ve read a lot of letters from all of the kids at my school, so I won’t write too much.  Sussex Regional High School would be greatly appreciated if you actually came and visit us.  Over the past few months many activities and changes have happened to our school, from posters in our lobby, to having a Twitter page about trying to get you to come.  I think you would like Sussex, it is similar to Maine.
Thank you very much for your time to read this.
Sincerely,
Jaydah

Dear Stephen King,
Up until two years ago I didn’t even know your name.  Then one day my sister came home with The Dead Zone, she said that it dramatically changed her life.  Since then I have read several of your books including Salem’s Lot, The Dead Zone, Pet Cemetery, and the three Dark Towers. The latest one I read was The Green Mile.  My favourite character was John Coffery.  Since the beginning John really spoke to me.  It was so sad when he died; I hoped right up to the end that he would live.  The line with John Coffery’s last tears really touched me.  The ending summed up the story very good even if it wasn’t happy. This book was so good I read it in under a week.  I am almost done Eyes of The Dragons, when I finish I plan to start Insomnia.  I can’t wait for the JF Kennedy assassination one.
Sincerely,
Patrick

Hello Stephen King,
I am a student of Sussex Regional High in the town of Sussex, New Brunswick.  If you have heard of it, I’d really be surprised.  We’re a small town in rural Canada, and our greatest pastimes usually have something to do with cows.  It’s the way we roll around here.  Now I have to say that around here many, many people have had their lives affected by your novels and movies.  It seems that every other book I see someone reading is one with the big, recognizable word “KING” written on the cover, and  a large classroom was filled with students watching 1408 and The Secret Window, both of which are amazing and will never be forgotten by anyone there.  You are one of the most talented authors ever, and I know that both my community and my school would be honoured by your consideration of coming to visit.  Your actual presence: Mayhem
Sincerely,
Jenna

Dear Mr. King,
Once upon a time, in a far away land called “Sussex”, a group of students were terribly distressed.  “If only Stephen King would come and visit us!” they sobbed.  But alas, he never came.
The students held fairs promoting his latest works, watched movies based on his writing, held Stephen King book drives, and even wrote an abundance of letters, all in hopes that he would one day grace them with his presence.
One day, the people of Sussex received wonderful news.  Mr. King had finally agreed to visit their lovely town! They were overjoyed, and celebration reigned! Excitement was everywhere, and preparations for his arrival commenced immediately!
Make this story a reality and we would all live happily ever after.
Sincerely,
Martha

Dear Stephen King,
Hey, I have heard that we want you to come to Sussex.  There are many students and people in the community who have read your books and have watched your movies.  There are so many fans here that it would be a shame if you didn’t come to see them.
Sussex is a little town in New Brunswick, Canada.  It would be the perfect town for a story.  Sussex is a very inspirational place, the people, the landscape, everything here has a story behind it.  Even if you Google Sussex you won’t learn everything about Sussex.  You have to come here to experience Sussex for yourself.
A visit from a man such as your self would change so many people’s lives. To have someone of your stature come here would be amazing.
Thanks for reading my letter,
Jessica

Mr. Stephen King,
In advance I would like to thank you for taking time to read this letter.  My name is Kirsten, and like many in this school, I am a huge fan of your work.  My school is in a small town called Sussex, well know for dairy, a peaceful, relaxing place for a trip.
My school’s name is Sussex Regional High School, SRHS for short.  A beautiful school, very kind and welcoming.  The entire school has been going crazy over your books and the movies they inspired, we have been watching your movies at lunch, and have had a book drive to get more of your books for the students and faculty to read.
We have all been enjoying your works very much, but we would be forever grateful if you choose our school o come and talk about your books.  Your books have brought our school closer together.  Even the kids who do not like to read have taking the time to stop and enjoy your books and it would be a great inspiration for many if you were to come to our school.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter, and I sincerely hope you will consider coming to our school.

Stephen King,
I am an 11th grade student from Sussex Regional High School in New Brunswick.  Here in the small town of Sussex, we have taken a great interest in your work.  We have been collecting your books in our school library and we will be having Indigo come to host a book launch for 11/22/63.  Furthermore, we had a film festival, which I attended, at which we watched your movies, “1408” and “Secret Window”.  I had previously seen and loved the two movies.
I am a avid reader and though I have currently never read any of your book, I plan to do so in the future.  I am, however, aware of your great success, and as an aspiring writer, I would absolutely love the opportunity to meet a famous author such as yourself.  Being aware that my school would absolutely love to have you come around next Halloween, it would be a once-in-a0lifetime opportunity for me to meet you, so I would personally find it to be absolutely amazing if you would take my school’s visit request into consideration.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

Dear Stephen King,
People have been talking about you coming to our town, Sussex.  I think it would be a good idea to come because you would hear a lot of crazy stories from the townspeople, some which you could maybe use in your books in the future.  I’ve heard your books are some of the scariest stories out there.  I personally never read one probably because I would like to sleep with my eyes closed rather than open.  I can get scared like you did when you were little, for example I go downstairs to clean the litter box, I always think there is a monster watching me, even though I know there is not.
Hope to see you soon.

Dear Stephen King,
Our town of Sussex is pretty small, we work hard and play hard.  Everyone knows everyone else and we like it that way.
It would be cool if you came here because you are pretty famous and we don’t get much of that around here.   Congrats on releasing your new book by the way, hope it works out.

Hello from the middle of nowhere,
I wouldn’t blame you if you have no heard of the town of Sussex, located in New Brunswick, Canada.  Before moving back recently, I hardly knew anything about this place.  Although it is a beautiful province, at night it is an ideal place for ones imagination to wonder from place of serenity, to that which may boarder line paranoia.  This fact shows itself on the outskirts of town where every nook and cranny can be thoroughly examined by ones darker outlook.  That is one who knows what most refuse to see.
Even with those who do not or have not read one of your books, there are a many who have and draw inspiration from what they have read.  As one of life’s greater writers, it would be a real treat if you would pay a visit to Sussex Regional High School.  A place filled with minds waiting to be sculpted by one so blessed in a literary sense.

Dear Stephen King,
I’ve never read any of your books yet, but I’ve seen movies based on them.  I like the way you write book in an unorthodox fashion.  I want to read your new released book 11/22/63 because I am interested in finding out what would have really happened if John Kennedy hadn’t been shot. I’ve heard of you for years now but never read anything.  I hope after reading your book I will be more interested in your other novels. Here at SRHS we have had book drives and assembly declared to you.  When 11/22/63 was released in our lobby we sold many copies.  We at Sussex would love to have you here to visit and talk to us about your life and your experiences writing books.  Maybe while you are here you could find some ideas for your next book.
Sincerely,
Bronsen

Dear Stephen King,
I haven’t read any of your books yet, but I love your movies.  I admire how you get the ideas.  We live in a little community called Sussex. It would be a pleasure to have a celebrity in our town as our town is not a place where you see a celebrity every day.  I love the movie 1408 because it was exciting.  Secret Window was good because there was so many twists in it.  We had a book release of 11.22.63.  I think it will be very interesting to read about the life of JFK if he had never got shot in the head that day.  I really do hope you come to our school because I know for a fact it would lighten some faces up.
Sincerely,
Ben

Dear Mr. King,
I haven’t read any of your books, but I watched part of the movie based on your book 1408.  It was good.  I am a student of Sussex Regional High School, from the little town of Sussex New Brunswick.  All the students were asked to write a letter to you, asking if you would please come and visit.  So, if it’s not too much trouble, we would all like it if you come and speak to us.  We have done many things in trying to get you to come, some of those things were, a book release, book drive, movies at lunch and much more.  Everyone has enjoyed doing these things, hope to see you soon.
Sincerely,
Sarah

Dear Mr King,
Although I have not read any of your books, I have watched the movies The Green Mile, 1408 and The Secret Window which are based on your world class books.  I do plan to read some of your books because our library is bursting at the seams with them.  Also me and the rest of the little town of Sussex, New Brunswick thinks it would be really cool idea if you came to our little town.
Sincerely,
Sean

Dear Stephen King,
Please come to Sussex Regional High School.  You’re the best living writer. You can write novels like a productions line and each one is a masterpiece.  It would be great to learn about your writing styles and strategies.  The entire school could learn a thing or two from you.  You probably think that there are an infinite number of small towns, and Sussex is just another one of them, but we’re trying harder than anyone to get you to come and we’re just a few hours drive away.  In fact, we’re having a Stephen King book drive.  Myself, I have sixteen novels.  My favourite is a first edition of “The Shining”.
So once again, please come.
Sincerely,
David

Dear Stephen King,
I live in the small town of Sussex New Brunswick and I’m currently a grade 9 student at Sussex Regional High School. Just recently my school has been talking a lot about you.  We had numerous activities based on you and your books such as having a book drive and also watching your movies based on your books in one of the teachers classroom here.  Although I don’t know much about you and I’ve never read one of your books, I have watched the movie 1408 based on your book and it was amazing!  So it would be a great experience to have you come to Sussex and we would love to have you as one of our guest here.  I know you are a busy man, so thank you for reading my letter.
Sincerely,

From the first book brought in,
our librarian went on a kick.
And now throughout the school,
you’re our number one pick! J
From your picture in the library,
to your books on every shelf,
We would be very honored,
if you came here yourself.

Dear Mr. King,
You are a very popular person in our small town of Sussex.  Your horror books and movies are great and well known here.  We here at Sussex Regional High School would be honoured if you could come and participate in an upcoming event starting next Halloween.
The event is a Halloween spook trail were we turn the high school into a house of horror; but this year we want it to be different we want to base it off your books and films.  But we will need to watch more of your movies and read more of your books in order to fill the whole school.  If you come maybe you will give us some more ideas.
We here at SRHS don’t only like your books and films but our parents do as well.  My father has all of your books hard covers and it would be awesome if you would maybe sign some books for people here as well.
Also by you coming here you could offer the people of Sussex Regional High a huge educational opportunity being a legendary author and all.  You would give people new ideas and encourage them to read and write more often.
Well Mr. King I hope you take my letter into consideration.
Yours truly,
McKelon

Dear Stephen King,
SRHS is a small high school in Sussex New Brunswick where basically the only thing people think we do is cow tip but for people who may not like cows they turn to reading your famous books.  There are many huge fans of yours in this small cow town and they would be thrilled to have you here.  Also you coming here would be a great educational opportunity for the young aspiring authors in this school.  Anyway, we would be happy if all our hard work paid off and you came to our school Halloween of 2012.  Please come!
Thanks,
Brianna

I haven’t read any of your books before, but I have heard they are good.  I LOVE horror movies and I have watched some of your before including, “Dreamcatcher”, “Cat’s Eye” and Dolores Claibrone”! Next year around Halloween we Sussex Regional High School would like you to come to our school.  We are going to base our spook trail around your books and movies, and it would be even better if you were here to help.  Our school has recently had a book drive and we now have 60 or more of your books in our library.  We have been hanging posters in our lobby and at lunch time there has been your movies playing in our theatre.  We would love it if you, Stephen King would come to our school, it would be a pleasure to have you.

Dear Stephen King,
I am a student at Sussex Regional High School in New Brunswick.  I will not lie to you, I am not a fanatical fan of your work.  However, I am surrounded by hundreds of your fans who have assured me that you are an excellent author.
I have written to ask that you come here.  As I said you have you have many fans in this area who would be overjoyed to meet you.  Apart from that, there are many young writers who would surely benefit from your presence.  I would be thrilled if you could pass on some of your knowledge to us.
As I look around the room, I see many young faces.  All of them glowing as they pen letters to you, asking your presence here, as part of our seeking Stephen King initiative.  I am unsure what sparked this, but it would seem that everyone who can is doing something to lure you here.  If you were to visit our school, it would be appreciated by fans and writers alike.
Sorry about all of the letters,
Evan

Stephen,
Sorry about the many letters from my school, but we Sussex Regional want you to come to our school.  My mom is in love with your books so please come from my mommy.  I know she’s not in the school, but if you come you could always so some kind of thing so our little cow town could come too. We want you to come because we want you to share your intelligence, and if you do come we can make our spook trail around your books.  Really you should agree to come so our school can go back to normal learning cause lately our class have only been talking about you.  Our newest class argument was how old you are we thought you were 42 turns out you are 64.
 Anyway please come.

Dear Stephen King,
I think that Sussex Regional High School would greatly appreciate you coming to our school.  It would help student write.  You would also gain some publicity and get us out of class.
One reason to come visit us is you would inspire some of us kids to write.  If you inspire us to write we might grow up to be famous author some day.  If you inspire us to be like you, you could become famous.
Another reasons is you would gain some publicity and you  could sell some more of your books.  It would be good publicity if you come and visit a small town like Sussex.  I guarantee you would sell some novels because you are a good author.
It would also be good if you come because you would get us out of class.  I personally think that you getting us out of class would be awesome.  I think that you would give us a great presentation.
It would be okay if you didn’t come.  I know that you would be pretty uncomfortable coming to Sussex and giving a speech in front of 900 kids.  You probably don’t have enough time either.
Once again I think you should come to Sussex.  You would gain some great publicity, inspire us to write great novels and you would get us out of school.  It’s okay if you don’t have time though.
Sincerely Yours,
Patrick

Dear Mr. Stephen King,

We would like you to be our guest at the small town of Sussex New Brunswick.  Your trip will not be in vain for you will see the lovely people (who most admire your work), the beautiful scenery and the best of all the students of SRHS.

First of all, your work would be known throughout New Brunswick, and this visit would amount to great publicity.  Picture this, “Stephen King Returns to NB” printed in papers and top story on CTV news.  The amount of your books being sold and movies sold will sky rocket!
The scenery in Sussex and throughout New Brunswick is extraordinary.  If it’s October when you visit you can see the many colourful hills that surround us and the wildlife we live alongside.  (It may even be a good foundation for a new book). Sussex and its surrounding areas have a large amount of old covered bridges which are rather scarce in Canada.  We are also known as the mural capital of Atlantic Canada with approximately 25 splendid murals throughout Sussex and Sussex Corner.

Last but not least are the students of SRHS that are dying to meet a celebrity of such profound work.  You would inspire some of us to work harder on our writing and even convince some of us to become authors ourselves.

I know that you could be feeling a little uncertain about presenting yourself to the town.  I can assure you we are very friendly and other authors that we have has visit here such as Beth Powning and Herb Curtis and they leave with a smile on their face.

For the reasons above we would love to see you here next year.  We can assure you that your trip to Sussex will not be in vain.

Sincerely Yours,
John

Dear Stephen King,
Literacy , how important is it?  Here at Sussex Regional High School it is highly promoted.  We even have our own literacy committee and we would love to come have you support our cause as we support your writing.  Why come to Sussex?  There are multiple reasons!
To being with, what great publicity it would be for you.  And who doesn’t want all the publicity they can get?  Your sales would rise and there would be press there, you would become ore known, if that is even possible.
There is tons of inspiring and beautiful country-side.  It could help you overcome and could be the lead on your next top selling novel!  There is abandoned mines, ice caves, factories and farm buildings.
Last but not least, you would meet and inspire many young and old writers alike.  You would get the chance to meet an unforgettable body of you, talented students and the community that has helped shaped them.
I hope you consider all that I have said and grace our wonderful school with your presence.  There would be great publicity, inspiring places and wonderful young people.
Lyndsey

Dear Stephen King,
Hello, my name is Sarah and I am a student at Sussex Regional High School in Sussex, NB Canada.  The whole school and I would like to formally invite you to our school on Halloween of 2012.  Other than us wanting you to come, there are many reasons why you should.
One reason is that our little town happens to be the Mural Capital of Atlantic Canada. All over the town we have very beautiful painting of the history of Sussex and the surrounding area.  We have a beautiful town, and everywhere you look there are rolling hills covered in forests.  You should come to Sussex because it would be a nice change of pace.
Another reason you should come is because Maine is not very far away from Sussex.  Coming to Sussex would only take you about a three hour drive.  This would also make it so you could go home at the end of the day and you wouldn’t have to spend the night.  This of course is only if you don’t want to spend the night.
The last reasons that you should come is because of coming here it could improve your image and ours.  People would start to think of you as a very caring person.  It would help us so that people might stop calling us hicks and starting thinking of us as more then farmers.
I really hope that you would consider coming to our little town of Sussex, NB.
Sincerely,
Sarah

Stephen King,
You should come to Sussex Regional High School.  Why? You ask.  Well I could sit here and list them off or I could give you the three main reasons why you, Stephen King, has to come to Sussex.
For starters, Sussex isn’t far from your home in Maine.  At the most it is a three hour drive.  It would be understandable if you lived way over in the sticks in Japan and didn’t have time or you didn’t want to spend money on a plane ticket to stay for one day, but that’s the thing!  See, you don’t have to travel very far at all.  I think you caught my drift on this reason.
Secondly, coming to Sussex would be a good way to promote your books and gather other wonderful ideas for books.  To be honest with you, I’ve heard of maybe one of your books and that was only a month ago.  Now that I know who the mastermind behind some amazing movies is, I would love for you to come!
When you come to little Cowtown Sussex, which we all know you will, it will be good for your image.  You know just exactly what I mean too.  Doing things like this is like volunteer work.  We want you to come because who doesn’t like a good author?  All I’m saying is that we would love for you to come.  Who knows what could happen?  Bring some books and you may make a good amount of money!
On the contrary, you may be scared of some of the things.  It may  be cows, the potash mine, or even just how small Sussex is.  Sussex really isn’t that small though.  And you wouldn’t have to go near the mine or the cows if you didn’t want to.    All-in-all you don’t have anything to worry about.
In conclusion you really don’t have any reason to not come now do you?  So Stephen King, you are know exactly what you’re doing next October, and that is coming to Sussex Regional High School
Sincerely,
Miranda

Dear Mr. King,
I am a grade ten student enrolled in Sussex Regional High School.  Sussex is a small town in New Brunswick, Canada.  There are around nine-hundred students in our school in my school, and we all would love to have you come for a visit.
Why would you come to Sussex?  It is a small, boring town in New Brunswick.  Most of the kids probably have not read your books anyway, so what’s the point?  As soon as you come to one school, every school is going to want you.  That would be expensive!  You are probably too busy writing another book to bother visiting kids how hardly read at all.
We may be small, but we sure are friendly!  Just ask the Queen, even she has been here! We are the Mural and Dairy Capital of New Brunswick, and we have covered bridges.  This means you will never be bored on your visit because there are lots of things for you to see.  Not to mention, that Sussex Regional High school had a brand new theater for you to speak in.
You are inspiring to a lot of kids here.  They look up to your writing and you as a person having gone through all that you have.  Everyone would be ecstatic to see you walking our halls.  Not many authors take the time to come to this little town.  Just think how happy you would make your fans!
The kids a Sussex Regional High School would love to get out of class and hear you talk about all of the novels that you have written.  All of the teachers would love it is you came and inspired students to read and write more.  It’s not like you are far away, you can just come down on a Friday, talk to us kids, maybe see some sights, and then go back to Maine Sunday.  You used to teach in New Brunswick, you know that not every money author take the time to talk to us.  Students would love to hear your tips on writing, and how we can enrich our knowledge in literature, so that we can impress our teachers.
Sussex might not be the biggest, but we would love it if you took time out of you schedule to come to speak at our school.  You can promote you novels, and it’s not going to take a lot time or money to get here.  All staff and students would love it if we could talk to us, and get some tips.
Sincerely,
 Jenna

Dear Stephen King;
Students and staff from SRHS are interested in having someone come and visit our small community and enjoy the spot light for just a few days. You are the man that could make all of this happen. Just pack up your things, hitch a ride and come down to our town of Sussex, New Brunswick for a once in a life time experience.
You may ask why you would go to Sussex out of all of the places. Well let me be the first to tell you that our small town is not like the others because we are well known for a few special things. We are known as “cowtown” due to the fact that everyone where you look you will see cows and farms. We also have “Dairytown”, the creator of Sussex cheese and butter. Also, we are the mural capital of Atlantic Canada. All the beautiful painting will blow your mind away, so it is a must that you come check them out.
A small speech and presentation from you could impact many students from our school. Your presence would definitely be a new experience and could influence us also. You would be able to enhance people’s ideas about writing and give us help on our skills. Our idea on writing could change by just a few wise words spoken by you.
Since our town has such a small population and area, the spot light would be totally on you. Plus, your publicity would go sky high since you will be the star of the town.  Also, it could be a new chance to get more fans and sell more books. People would be all over your appearance and would crave to see you.
Therefore, you coming to visit our town and school would have benefits for all of us. You could see the wonders of Sussex, impact us students and improve your publicity. We would all remember this forever. I hope that you take this into consideration and that I will see you next year.
Sincerely,
Cecilia
